Jakarta, October 8, 2019 – Tech in Asia, one of Asia’s biggest platforms for the tech community, held its blockbuster Tech in Asia Conference in the city of Jakarta.
On the first day of the conference, Janio had a chance to provide our insights on the future of logistics during a panel discussion alongside other logistics players, moderated by Reefknot Investments.
Adopting a current and future perspective of the state and development of Indonesia’s logistics, it is widely recognized that logistics has and will likely always be a challenge in Indonesia due to its nature as an archipelagic state, with thousands of islands. One of the major developments shaping the logistics industry is eCommerce growth. With this growth, the demand for end-to-end logistics, which integrates the shipping process from port to the end consumer, is growing.

Janio believes that technology is crucial in connecting every part of the supply chain together to serve consumers and merchants. As cross-border eCommerce purchases increase, merchants need solutions that integrate shipments into Indonesia and cover delivery from port to consumers.
On the other hand, a growing focus on exports out of Indonesia likewise requires a seamless end-to-end solution that can move parcels from merchants’ warehouses to ports, then across borders and through to the last mile. Beyond addressing the needs of merchants and consumers, technology can also help logistics players by allowing them to access a wider network within and outside Indonesia, and this is precisely the type of technology that Janio is developing. For example, a small fleet operator in Bandung can now not only receive more business through shipments coming in from outside Indonesia through the Janio network, they can also tap into the Janio network to provide international shipping to their existing customers.
The session is expected to be a valuable source of information for industry players in the eCommerce ecosystem to grow their business in and outside Indonesia.
