The role

Janio is experiencing hyper-growth in all aspects and we are looking for a leader to be hands-on with product development, manage production deadlines and build a team with strong technical knowledge.

Engineering Managers (EMs) at Janio focus on building a culture of technical excellence by building and nurturing high performing teams of frontend, backend and full stack engineers, and leading them by example. In addition to team management and overall leadership (includes task planning, code reviews etc.), EMs are expected to be hands on involved with product development including on-going contribution to the codebase and leading development of several important products and modules.

EMs are expected to develop a deep understanding of Janio’s target markets and business environment, while actively participating and contributing towards product ideation and requirements gathering, along with other stakeholders like product managers, designers and business development folks.

EMs are expected to be comfortable in interacting directly with Janio’s customers on a need basis, to understand their concerns and provide them required support. EMs are expected to also assist the customer support team by pro-actively resolving customer issues with the help of engineers and building permanent, sustainable solutions rather than short term fixes to customer problems.

EMs are expected to be master communicators who are confident in sharing their thoughts with rest of the teams (outside of engineering as well) and actively participating in strategy formulation for our fast growing company. Ems are also expected to be involved in recruitment of great engineers, in collaboration with recruiting team.

The requirements

  • At-least 5 years of experience in building software products, including a minimum of 2 years of people management/mentoring experience
  • Full-stack development experience with technologies like Django (Python), Node.js, React/Vue, SQL, AWS and Go (optional).
  • Excellent logical reasoning skills and deep understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Demonstrated ability in working closely with Enterprise customers and collaborating with stakeholders like business and operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Bonus points for candidates who led teams at the time of crises and lead them by setting examples.
  • Experience in building data dashboards using tools like Metabase/Tableau etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to take end to end ownership and being accountable for the success of the product.
