Tuesday, 21st September, 2021 – Janio’s Group Head of Commercial, Senthil Kumar, was invited as a panelist for the “Improving logistics performance in Cross-Border 3PL relationship” online panel discussion. The panel discussion was a segment of an exciting lineup of activities during the Asia Warehousing Cold Chain Virtual Conference, which was held from the 20th-24th September, 2021 and organised by Manch Exhibitions Thailand. Moderated by Prashant Narain of Manch Exhibitions Thailand, the webinar aimed to educate eCommerce business owners on how to improve logistics performance through cost efficiency and ensure on-time deliveries for cross-border shipments when utilising 3PLs.
Alongside other distinguished industry experts such as Aramex’s Head of Commercial (Asia) – Vernon Martin, YunExpress Thailand’s General Manager – Pengtao Zhang and BuyandShip’s Co-founder and Chairman – Sheldon Li, Senthil shared interesting insights on cross-border eCommerce trends and his take on how to overcome day-to-day operational challenges in the supply chain throughout the 1-hour event.
Senthil mentioned that the trick of the trade when it comes to fulfilling promised lead times and upholding reliability is having in place a supply chain process that corrects itself in the face of differing external situations. He also specified that improving transit time performance is dependent on having a standardised process that does not compromise on customer focus.
He added that when selecting a trade lane, an eCommerce business owner should consider the following three perspectives: routing and freight needs, brokerage and final mile. To ensure smooth delivery of products with minimal delay, one should also design a robust supply chain network that can be easily monitored, reviewed and adapted to cater to the complexity in regions like Southeast Asia.
To end off, Senthil concluded saying that culture plays a huge role in determining buying habits across markets and in turn influences a merchant’s decision when choosing a target country they want to sell to, the product they intend to sell to the market and the method to source the desired product.
